Children's art classes in Nurmijärvi
Hi! I'm Amy Lovisa Frame, a local artist in Nurmijärvi. Before I started working with making my own art, I spent my days as a kindergarten teacher, teaching children to explore the world through paint, art and different types of creative expressions.
I've seen first hand that not all children are given or can access enough of the creative outlets they need in their kindergartens or schools, and that giving them a safe space to learn and develop can help their cognitive, physical and emotional development. Colours, materials and new ways of expressing ourselves unlocks new languages for children, and gives you and your child a lovely opportunity to go on an adventure together.
I therefore started running small art courses from my studio in Nurmijärvi. I use my background in early childhood education to design shorter courses that give children access to art and creating, in a way that suits them! I also hope that these courses can serve as meeting points for families and carers, where we can all come together and feel a sense of community.

about the courses
-
My courses are designed around what children need to feel safe and excited to learn and explore. Each course has a different focus or goal, so have a look at the specific options available when choosing
-
Involving play and fantasy helps younger children get closer to art, so I will often include an element of storytelling, small games or characters in our classes.
-
Each child needs to have an adult with them who will join them and participate in the session. i ask that you take part as freely as possible - paint, draw and explore! The kids love it when adults join in on the adventure, and it helps them feel safe enough to focus on simply creating.
-
Each course is designed to build up the childs confidence and exploration session by session, by slowly introducing new materials, testing new skills and techniques, and helping them on the way to dare explore and express themselves.
-
We only use high quality art materials from local art shops in Uusimaa, and all art materials are included in the course fee. No matter the age of the artist, using good materials helps us get closer to our art!
-
Everyone gets to decorate their own art folder at the start of the course, where they will store their works. At the end of the course, this comes home with you as a lovely memory.

In this course we focus on connecting to ourselves, feelings and others through art - how can we create to show and explore our feelings? How can we better understand our friends, family and strangers by seeing what they create? We can't always put words on what is happening, and sometimes drawing, painting, shapes, colours or other expressions help us on the way.
We'll explore this topic using characters and stories, side by side with different techniques such as pastels, watercolours, ink and scraping.
